A Happy Hour that goes past 8pm is a rare and magical thing, and we found a few good ones for you. If you wound up working late and need a spot where you won't have to pay $20 for a cocktail that's 95% ice, head to one of these bars for a $3 beer, a discounted espresso martini, or a relatively cheap negroni that comes with a side of go-go dancing.

Lower East Side

The Deal: $8 Lychee Martinis, $8 Red or Rosé Sangria

Verlaine is a minimalist lounge-type place on the Lower East Side with moody orange lighting that offers drink discounts until 10pm. The next time your finance friends complain about never making it to Happy Hour, send them here.

West Harlem

When: Late Night Happy Hour, Sun-Thurs, 11pm-2am

The Deal: $6 House Drafts, $8 House Wines, $10 Classic Cocktails

This place in Hamilton Heights calls itself a cocktail bar, but it feels more like a restaurant—mainly due to its massive space and extensive food menu. Bring a group, play some pool, and take advantage of the late-night Happy Hour (every night but Friday and Saturday).

When: Mon-Wed, 12pm-7pm; Sat-Sun 4pm-7pm; Wed-Sat 11pm-2am

The Deal: $5 Drafts, $7 Frozen Margaritas, $6 Well Drinks

Another late-night option uptown, The Heights is a two-floor bar and restaurant in Morningside Heights that’s usually full of Columbia University students and staff. If the weather’s nice, head to their rooftop for a round of frozen margaritas.

When: Daily until 9pm; Sun-Wed, 11pm until close; Thurs, 12am until close

The Deal: Half-Off Everything

Lots of East Village bars have a Happy Hour, but La Linea’s goes until 9pm every night. It can feel a bit cramped inside once the DJ takes over, but the deals here are some of the best in the neighborhood. If you stick around long enough, you can enjoy another Happy Hour that starts at 11pm Sunday through Wednesday (or 12am on Thursday).

The Deal: $10 Specialty Cocktails, $5 Mixed Drinks, $5 Draft Beers

Home Sweet Home is pretty much a dive bar that happens to have a big dance floor in the back, and it’s where you should go when you want to have a fun night out at a place that isn’t a club. The music’s always good at this subterranean Lower East Side spot, and the Happy Hour runs until 8:30pm on weekdays.

When: Mon-Thurs, 3pm-close; Friday-Sun, 12pm-close

The Deal: $3 Bud Light, $3 Miller Light, $6 Seltzers

If you’re drinking at Jake’s Dilemma on the Upper West Side, you’re either trying to relive your college years or you got dragged here by someone who still plays beer pong. And you'll probably have a good time. In addition to a Happy Hour that goes until 7pm every day, this place offers a few late-night drink specials like $3 Bud Lights.

When: Daily, 7pm-close

Owned by the same people behind Jake’s Dilemma, Hair of the Dog is another place where you can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with people who still remember their college GPA. They have a Happy Hour on weekdays from 12-7pm, and there are different late-night drink specials every night. Expect things like half-off espresso martinis and $7 tequila shots.

When: All Night Tues-Thurs & Sun

The Deal: $10 Food And Cocktails

Ethyl’s is a ‘70s-themed spot on the Upper East Side that looks like it should be located within walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s a divey place with a disco ball and go-go dancers, and it has $10 specials most nights that involve things like empanadas and negronis. There’s also a regular Happy Hour from 5-7pm daily.

When: Sun-Wed, 2am-4am

The Deal: $5 House Wine, $5 Draft Beer, $8 Well Drinks

If you accidentally lock yourself out of your apartment and have an hour to kill while you wait for a locksmith at 3am on a Monday night, head to Niagara. This classic East Village dive does a late-night Happy Hour Sunday through Wednesday, and it’s a nice place to mingle with tourists and people who’ve lived in the neighborhood for several decades.
