Adana is a new spot in town, and we were prepared to have our worlds rocked. The interior is pretty cool, and the way the chopsticks have their own little holders seems like something mind-blowing is going to happen. But then we ate the food.

Adana has a three-course tasting menu for $37 a person, which sounds fantastic on paper - but the portions are small, and the ingredients are less of that flavorful Japanese umami and more of a spa cleanse meal. Two different dishes with bitter greens felt like we were being forced to eat our vegetables, and the roasted fish was sitting in a boring green tea “broth,” AKA straight-up green tea. If you’re currently detoxing and seasoning doesn’t matter to you, you’re going to have a great time. Otherwise, stick to cocktails (which actually are great here) and try something from the bar menu - which has more of a street-food vibe.
