LAReview
After briefly closing in May, Church & State has reopened in the Arts District with the same name, but new ownership and a new menu. One of the original big-deal restaurants in the neighborhood, Church & State doesn’t quite have the same interesting, high-quality French food as it used to. Things are a bit more affordable than they were, but both the menu and the food on it are rather bland. The service is good, the cocktails are great, and there’s a fantastic steak with blackberries and bone marrow - but given the choice between this place and other nearby restaurants, we’ll take the others.
