Once in a while, we come across a restaurant that we don’t really want to tell people about, because we want to selfishly keep its loveliness to ourselves. But alas, we also made a blood oath to make sure that we’d bring you all the best spots in London. So it’s with no small amount of reluctance that we come to Burro e Salvia, a little restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch.

Like this small Italian restaurant, we’re going to keep this simple. Each day, Burro e Salvia makes delicious hand made pastas that appear on a short menu. Unfortunately, you can’t form a deep relationship with any of the pastas, as they change the menus and available dishes monthly, which means we’ve definitely lost some great loves along the way. But don’t feel too sorry for us, as we regularly find new pastas to break our hearts—one month there might be a ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach on the menu, or you could get lucky with the Black Taggiasca olive gnocchi.

If you do fall madly in love with any particular pasta, it’s also available for you to take away and cook at home. Considering Burro e Salvia’s diminutive size, it does get busy, so book ahead.
