We wish ‘funnest’ were a word so we could call Little Georgia the funnest restaurant in Islington. It looks fun, with its decorative posters, vintage telephones, and hunting horns. And the waiters are fun: smiling, jokey, and eager to advise about ordering. Order a shot of Georgian vodka and let them guide you through the menu.
Anything salad-like is a great choice for starters, and sharing a selection is the best of all. You can keep on with the vegetable option for main courses, but filling meat stews should get your attention in cold weather. And in any kind of weather, check out the poussin dishes. These birds can be the most boring food on earth, but here they’re fantastic: not overcooked, full of juice and flavour, and generously seasoned.

The all-Georgian wine list is inexpensive and great. And the soundtrack is also all-Georgian. If you’re lucky, the owner will get up and dance with one of the extremely handsome waiters. The original LG, in Hackney, is smaller and more intimate, but this big brother is equally good for big groups and dates. It’s good for anyone, really - except people who hate to have fun.
Food Rundown
Mixed Meze
Because it’s good. And so much easier than making a decision.
Blinis
Because they’re fried pancakes, only better. Get a mixed order, one cheese and one meat.
Khachapuri
Cheesy bread. What more do you need to know?
Poussin
Because it’s the best you’ll ever eat.
