There’s a case to be made that Abbeville Village is the best and happiest neighbourhood in London. And Bistro Union is a lovely neighbourhood restaurant that’s perfect for the area, with a look that’s a cross between a bistro and a gastropub. There are racks of wine on the walls, and a pretty bar with craft beer and wine on tap. Wine on tap! If that doesn’t convince you to move to Clapham, then nothing will. Bistro Union is a relaxed, comfy place to have a meal or a drink, and the menu’s full of hearty British dishes that wouldn’t feel out of place at a high-end gastropub.

Should you travel to have dinner at Bistro Union? Probably not. But if you live even within a 20-30 minute walk, you should make tracks. Just be prepared to confront some happiness.
