If you’re not already a convert, The Barbary will make you understand why eating at the bar can be such a blast. All of the restaurant’s seats are at a counter surrounding an open kitchen and bar, and this place gets everything right, from the upbeat atmosphere and incredible Middle Eastern-meets-North African food, to the service and sleek decor. It feels like a slightly more grown-up version of its sibling, The Palomar, but it’ll still give you the feeling that no one else in town is having a better—or louder—time. The Barbary’s excellent for a cool date, or a fancy catch up with a friend.

Halloumi Fries

You may have seen a variation of this deep fried cheese on social media. Let us assure you that the version at the Barbary is much better than anything you can eat in a Camden car park.

Cauliflower Jaffa

This cauliflower dish has nothing to do with Jaffa cakes, but we can definitely confirm that it’s ridiculously tasty.

Baba Ganoush

All of the dips at The Barbary are very, very good, and you should eat them with the beigel that they also conveniently offer on the menu.

Fire Lamb

Just look at it - it’s a plate of lamb chops that is literally on fire. Your night has officially peaked.

Hashcake

We’ve literally no idea what’s in this except that it’s something to do with pistachios, and even more than the lamb chops they torched with a flamethrower, it’s the thing most worth standing around in the cold for. Ridiculously good.
