The Duck and Rice is the holy love child of two of Britain’s greatest institutions. On the one hand, there’s an expensively decorated ‘pub’ downstairs that serves fresh Pilsner Urquell from a couple of massive copper tanks lying around. On the other hand, there’s a sleek Chinese restaurant upstairs serving upmarket takes on Cantonese dishes like duck and rice, and prawn toast. It’s an excellent spot for catching up with mates and small group dinners, but you can also drop into the pub for some dim sum and tea if you’re after something more casual.

Dinings is a very cosy sushi counter and downstairs Japanese restaurant that just happens to have some of the most serious sushi in London.

Phoenix Palace image

Chinese restaurant Phoenix Palace is one of the most upmarket of London’s old-school dim sum restaurants, with great versions of Cantonese classics.
