Marugame Udon is another place to get your weekly (daily?) noodle fix on Sawtelle. This busy Japanese spot has a cafeteria set-up: you stand in line, order your udon (the cold beef-tsuke is our favorite), and work your way along the line, maybe picking up a rice bowl on your way to the register. The udon is solid, and very ideal for a lunch away from your desk, but the tempura doesn’t really hold up to the heat lamps. Either grab a piece straight out of the fryer or skip it.
