Sushi Tsujita
Included In
Like the Jonas Brothers, there’s a third Tsujita restaurant that people don’t talk about as much. That’s the underappreciated Sushi Tsujita, a fairly casual sushi bar on Sawtelle that, unlike its ramen siblings, doesn’t require waiting in line for 45 minutes. This spot is popular with UCLA students who want quality sushi on a budget and parents on dates with their teenagers. A la carte nigiri is available, but the main draw here is the reasonably priced omakase. There are three set menus to choose from —$49, $69, or $89—all of which include three appetizers and a little scoop of sake ice cream for dessert (a nice touch). We recommend the priciest tier (the Tokyo), which features eight pieces of nigiri, plus premium items like a toro hand roll and wagyu blow-torched in front of you. Walk-ins are welcome, but the staff gets overwhelmed easily, so making a reservation over the phone is the best move.
