Think of the Wayland as your ideal neighborhood bar. They make great cocktails, but they aren’t uptight like those bars where you have to enter a phone booth then name all fifty presidents in order to get seated. It’s a good, cozy, always-lively spot to get a drink in Alphabet City. They also do a small menu (with brunch on weekends), and there’s live music on certain days.

Exterior at The Immigrant with outdoor seating

The Immigrant is a beer bar on one side and a wine bar on the other. As far as East Village bars go, this is one of the nicer, calmer ones.

DBA is a bar in the East Village that’s good for people who like whiskey and beer and drinking those things outside.

Berlin is usually full of attractive people. It’s also the rare bar that’s divey but not too divey, and dancing is strongly encouraged.
