Though Ethiopian cuisine is generally vegan-friendly, Rahel on Fairfax is the only all-vegan restaurant in Little Ethiopia. This longtime neighborhood spot with a well-deserved cult following specializes in dishes like tender mushroom tibs and meat-free dulet. Expect a menu of vegetable and legume-focused things like shiro wot dusted with sweet paprika and spicy cayenne. Stop by for a casual weeknight meal and order the "veggie paradise" combo, which includes nine slow-cooked stews on a massive platter, plus injera and crispy sambussa. This is enough food to feed you and your midweek date, or one smart person who has a kink for leftovers.

Millenium Combination Platter

This platter is essentially a highlight reel of the best things on Rahel’s menu: red lentil stew, greens, yellow lentil stew, mixed vegetables, pumpkin stew, vegetable stew, injera salad, red cabbage, and mixed salad sitting atop a spongy blanket of injera. There’s also a vegan baklava at the end. Considering the amount of food you get, its $40 price tag (for two people) is a good value. It’s also what every person inside the restaurant will be eating. Plan to follow suit.
