If you’re looking for a classic tonkotsu ramen, this is the spot. You may notice that the famed New York spot Ippudo (yes, it did originate in Japan) is only a couple minutes walk down the street. And yes, Ippudo is good, but if given a choice between the two, we choose Tsukumo Ramen over Ippudo every single time. Here, the noodles are heavier, the creamy tonkotsu soup comes in a variety of styles (like miso or soy sauce), and the place specializes in cheese ramen (to be clear, that means you can add a huge mound of freshly-grated gouda cheese to your bowl). For us, these extra options for customization make Tsukumo the easy winner.
