Van Ness isn’t the most accessible neighborhood in DC, but it’s worth a trip to for the pasta at Sfoglina. This Italian spot makes it all by hand, and the menu also has some fish and a few small plate options. The space is well decorated but not fancy, with booths that look more like couches, red and white tapestries hanging from the ceiling, and a nice patio. It’s a good place for a date or dinner with your parents, but whoever you’re with, find someone who will split the $65 tasting (which includes any three of the pastas). And then get your own soft serve for dessert. There’s also a two-course deal for $26 at lunch.

At Rose's Luxury, you have no option but to share their five-course menu of playful American food. And it's always fun.
