The first time you come to City Bakery you’ll want to try their hot chocolate and their chocolate chip cookie and their pretzel croissant - all the stuff they’re famous for. But when you come back, you should hit up their always stocked, high-end salad bar. This is the kind of salad bar that has grilled cheese.
Tarllucci e Vino is an all-day cafe, with a few locations around the city. It’s sort of like a nicer, Italian Le Pain Quotiden.
Think is a pretty big coffee chain in NYC, and we’re partial to the NYU location where you can sit on a couch and eat a grilled cheese sandwich.
Levain Bakery on the UWS makes some of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city. You just have to wait for them.
