Even if you don’t know anything about bread, you know Tartine. But have you met their bigger, brighter offshoot, Tartine Manufactory? This warehouse-like spot in the Mission is like the cooler, younger sister of its legendary sibling. But instead of subtle digs about your side part, you’ll get bread-centric brunch staples and pastries by day, and standout sourdough pizza by night.
Breakfast is our favorite time to be here, even though the food is a little less exciting than at night. Daytime’s when the natural light and high ceilings can really show off. Walk in on a lazy Sunday (though there might be a line) for omelettes blanketed in herbs or morning buns plopped down on a ceramic plate—both great for feeling like a sophisticated morning person in a big city. You order at the counter, then sit down in the airy space and take in what feels like Willy Wonka’s factory, but for bread. Big conveyer belts cycle freshly baked country loaves and baguettes overhead. Staff score and plump up dough from behind a window.

When dinner rolls around, it’s pizza time. Tangy crusts release hot puffs of air when you take a bite, and toppings like pepperoni or runny eggs are dusted with an extra helping of parmesan cheese. If you haven’t already picked up on it, this place knows bread—so it’s no surprise that the pizzas here are worth the evening trip. Come at night if you want sexier, candlelit energy, or use this as a second stop after grabbing a drink with a date at True Laurel or Trick Dog down the street.

Breakfast Sandwich
If you’re here for brunch, zero in on the breakfast sandwich. Like most things here, this sandwich with scrambled egg, greens, and cheddar is simple, not too heavy, and well-done.

Seasonal Gem Lettuce Salad
Are we generally over gem lettuce salads? Yes, but at Tartine you need to balance out the nine loaves of bread you may consume with some vegetables, and at lunch this is the best way to do so. Super fresh, thanks to all the herbs involved.
Yogurt
When we go out to brunch, yogurt with granola isn’t usually the first thing we want. But at Tartine Manufactory, it’s absolutely a viable option. The housemade yogurt is incredible, the seasonal fruits are fresh, and the large granola chunks are delicious.
