Kitty Cohen’s isn’t your typical East Austin dive bar. Instead of sticky floors and well drinks, you’ll find all the makings of a Palm Springs house in the 1970s: palm trees, a patio with a pool, and that famous photo of naked Burt Reynolds in the bathroom. If you’re having the kind of day where you want (or need) a drink at 3pm, Kitty Cohen’s is your place. The beachy cocktails and bright blue umbrellas everywhere you turn will have you feeling like you’re either a few hundred miles south, or a few thousand miles west, of Austin. Note: the pop-up kitchen outside occasionally hosts dinners and supper clubs, but make sure to check the schedule if you’re hoping to get some food.
