Howlin' Taco
Living in New York City, you’re conditioned to believe you can find the best of everything. Especially food. But if you’re from Texas, you know that belief is bulls*t, because there are no real breakfast tacos here. Howlin’ Taco, however, is here to try to change that. It’s currently operating as a pop-up in a Williamsburg bar called Reclamation, and when we say operating, we really just mean that they have a little stand next to the bar with two hot plates and a crock pot. We’re impressed by their commitment to the craft, especially the fact that they’re making their own tortillas - although each taco has a bit too much tortilla and not enough of everything else (egg, cheese, potato, chorizo, bacon). Aside from that small complaint, if you live nearby here, it’s worth stopping in to to try these on a weekend morning (they’re also there on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights). We’re still waiting for someone to make the perfect breakfast taco in NYC. It might just have to be us.
