The Best Late-Night Restaurants In Seattle

Where to go when you’re hungry after 10pm.
undefined

Maybe your first dinner tonight was at a restaurant that took the term “small plates” too literally. Maybe you had a few too many beers while watching the game, so you want to soak up all that alcohol with something fried. Or maybe you’re bitter because those software engineers won at trivia night and you'd like to complain about that over a late dinner. Seattle has some excellent late-night options for any of these situations, be it a full sit-down meal or a substantial bar snack situation. These are our favorites.

Open until 12am Sunday-Thursday, 2am Friday-Saturday

Like many dive bars, Loretta's Northwesterner is open late most days of the week. But unlike many dive bars, they serve a burger that won't make you sad. Complete with two griddled patties with a slight char, american cheese, special sauce, onions, and pickles, it's way better after a few beers than a Dick's deluxe will ever be. Fighting words, we know.

Open until 12am Sunday-Wednesday, 2am Friday-Saturday

Maybe your East Coast friends are in town for a wild night out, and have started to complain about the pizza here. Head to Dino’s Tomato Pie for chewy, crispy-crusted pies that will restore their faith in the Seattle pizza universe—be sure to order the Mr. Pink, full of sweet vodka sauce and globs of ricotta. A couple of on-tap negronis, a pile of garlic knots, and a few dozen backhanded compliments later, you might just believe that you’re actually on the other side of the country.

If you work at a job where your shift ends super late, like as a broadcast journalist, chef, or Spiderman, it can be hard to find anything to eat other than something from the freezer section at a QFC. Toulouse Petit is there for you when you actually want a full meal, and is open until midnight every day. The food here is New Orleans-style, so you’ll see delicious things like beignets with coffee glaze, shrimp and grits, and gumbo. Just remember to change out of your Spiderman outfit first unless you want to spend your entire dinner signing autographs.

Open until 12am

This is not the place to come for a quiet late-night meal—it’s definitely a spot to continue the good vibes, especially if you consider an abundance of nước chấm caramel wings party food. (You should.) The best part about Ba Bar is that if you're looking for drinking snacks and a nightcap, there are imperial rolls and phở-flavored Old Fashioneds for the taking. But if all you need is a restorative bowl of steamy soup, you can have at some spicy bún bò huế.

Open until 2am

If you want quality pasta under $15 at 11pm, you could try to perfect your spaghetti aglio e olio at home. Or, you could just go to Donna's. Not only does this Italian cocktail bar on Capitol Hill serve curly mafaldine in a creamy bolognese, puttanesca topped fries, and fluffy focaccia past 10pm, but they also have music loud enough to ripple your tomato-basil martini and a gold disco ball to further set the late-night tone. Just note that all of their food is only served until midnight.

Open until 12am Sunday-Thursday, 2am Friday-Saturday

This Belltown spot is named after one of the most popular night markets in Bangkok—and the restaurant feels like a late-night party. While sipping from a rum-spiked Thai iced tea, take a second to look up at the woven baskets, colorful beams, little packages of spices, nuts, and other food products hanging from the ceiling and beams around the bar. Speaking of food, make sure you order the grilled pork skewers, fresh rolls, and mussamun curry with potatoes and peanuts.

Open until 2am Wednesday-Saturday

You could eat that takeout that’s been in your fridge so long it should basically pay rent, or you could go to New Luck Toy for some of the city’s best Chinese food in an over-the-top and completely wacky environment. Come with a group of friends and get some platters of shrimp and pork fat dumplings, General Tso’s chicken, and salt-and-pepper spare ribs with sticky five spice dip. Skeeball and karaoke are optional, but very much encouraged.

Open until 2am

French fries are a sacred late-night snack. And after a couple of hours at this tackle shop-themed bar playing Uno and slurping painkiller slushies or mules on tap, you’re going to want baskets coming on loop. But the good stuff doesn't stop at potatoes—you could have them alongside fish sandwiches, baja tacos, popcorn chicken, and one of the city's finest double cheeseburgers.

Open until 2am Sunday-Wednesday, 2:30am Thursday, 3:30am Friday-Saturday

If you want an excellent gyro or plate of falafel, and don’t mind being surrounded by college folks who just came from Jake’s house party (we heard that there were two kegs and the volleyball team showed up), go to Aladdin Gyro-Cery in the University District. The feta fries are great too—and you might see a sophomore in the corner alone eating them with a spoon.

Open until 12am Sunday-Wednesday

Inside a Shoreline strip mall is The Grill King. And while the hair salon next door closes at 7pm, this Korean BBQ spot keeps its grills on until midnight. Here you’ll find deeply marinated short ribs, super thin cuts of meat served frozen to stay fresh during grilling, and platters of banchan with fantastic garlicky bean sprouts and penne mac salad. The $25 all-you-can-eat dinner price is one of the best values in town, so count us in when it's time for late-night pork belly.

Open until 12am Friday-Saturday

Weather-wise, Seattle is already pretty similar to the UK. McLeod’s will take you one step closer to pretending you’re there instead of here. Like any good neighborhood pub, it’s great for a solo meal, and not only do they have great cocktails, but their fish and chips—with a puffy, pretzel-like beer batter and thick-cut french fries—are also excellent.

While it's not the greatest dim sum option in the International District, Hong Kong Bistro is open until 1am and happens to be better than Purple Dot, which is reason enough to stop in for BBQ pork buns, overstuffed potstickers, and tasty shrimp dumplings. Enjoy it all alongside your final beer of the night.

Open until 1am Sunday-Thursday, 2am Friday-Saturday

We may not be internationally renowned for our Italian food here in the PNW, but pizza is still a late-night staple in this city. And if you’d rather just go straight to bed than wait in line for a slice at Big Mario’s, Supreme is the funky bar/pizzeria hybrid you need to know about. It’s a serious contender for best New York-style pizza around, with crispy-crusted pies and classic toppings as well as more interesting combinations, like fried chicken and kimchi with American cheese (trust us, it’s great). Get the scallion garlic knots with cheese sauce, too, to go with your frozen spiked creamsicle cocktails.

Open until 2:30am

Take a deep breath—you can do this. By “this,” we mean brave the anarchic apocalypse that is Capitol Hill after midnight. It’s worth it for Monster Dogs, a hot dog cart that sets up shop right outside of Neumos and always draws a massive crowd. Weave your way through all the people, hop over that empty vodka bottle on the crosswalk, and get yourself a Polish link (or a Field Roast veggie dog) with cream cheese, jalapeño, and grilled onions on a toasted bun. Seattleites, this is your badge of honor.

Open until 12am Friday-Sunday

We’ve already covered the casual pizza options, but if you want something a little classier, come here. Sit in the cathedral-like darkness under ornate chandeliers, get some charred Neapolitan pies, caesar salads, and glasses of prosecco.

If it’s midnight on Capitol Hill, your stomach is growling like an N64 controller’s rumble pack, and you don't feel like having a pizza slice or hot dog, there’s always Taku. The karaage at this Japanese spot is an ideal vehicle for their incredible yum yum sauce, a savory mayo packed with sesame flavor that makes everything delicious. In fact, we'd order extra bonito-coated furikake fries just for the stuff. If you’re looking for something more filling than fried potatoes, we find the karaage sandwich to be much better than the chicken by itself, thanks to tartar sauce, tart pickles, and spicy habanero powder jazzing up the dredge.
