Globe Hall is the kind of place you’d probably avoid if you didn’t know about the smokey food magic happening out back. Dingy walls, barred windows, torn-up barstools, wobbly tables, bad taxidermy... it’s pretty clear there isn’t much effort going into room staging here. We respect that. It’s honestly what you want from a good BBQ place, because it lets you know all the focus is on the right thing - the food. At GH, that’s absolutely the case. They have all the makings of a real Texas smokehouse, including a small-cabin-sized smoker (named Betty) on the patio out back, currently pushing out the best BBQ we’ve ever had in Denver. And the space is actually a 100-year-old Croatian dance hall, which is at least a cool historical fact.

Brisket, pork, ribs, turkey, sausage, a few sides, and some pie make up the menu, and you can’t go wrong with any of the above - especially the ribs. These are honestly the best ribs in town. Tender, juicy meat that sticks to bone just enough to make the small amount of work you have to put in for each bite totally worth it. Add in the dance hall and live music they offer on the regular and we’re probably going to make GH our official summer headquarters.

The only complaint we have is that they occasionally offer weekend yoga classes. We’re willing to give that a pass... as long as they let us grab some of those ribs during our warrior pose.

Brisket

Great bark, a perfect amount of fat, and a nice bright ring of smoke to kiss you goodnight. Get it au naturel or get it in a bun with a ton of pickles and onions. Just get it everytime you go.

Pulled Pork

Nothing fancy here. Pork, vinegar cole slaw and bread. use the spicey(er) sauce on this one, and grab some napkins to help out when the juicy pork strings drip down your chinny chin chin.

Ribs

Thanks to these monsters we’re reconsidering pretty much all life decisions up to this point. Maybe the most tender piece of BBQ meat we’ve had West of the Mississippi and North of Austin.

Turkey Breast

We’re suckers for a good smoked turkey, and Globe Hall has the best version we’ve tasted in Denver. Tender and moist, and rubbed with a nice pepper bark. Consider this a nice palate cleanser between the ribs and brisket.

Sausage

Two types - Kolbasa and a jalapeno. Both have great snap when you bite on in, and both should be on your tray when you sit down to eat.

Sides

Sides here are simple, but do their job. As with everything at Globe Hall, there’s nothing over-done here, and that’s a good thing. You can order potato salad, beans (hearty texas-style beans) and/or cole slaw. Pickles, onions, jalapenos and white bread are served grab-your-own style on the buffet tray just off the bar in the dance hall.

Bannoffee Pie

Graham crackers, bananas, toffee, sweet condensed milk. Shut up and get it fast because this thing sells out. A lot.
