Geja’s is a fondue restaurant in Lincoln Park, and it proves that not all classic establishments in Chicago need to involve hot dogs, pizza, or steak. This place has been around since 1965, and if you’ve lived in the city for a while, you’ve probably eaten here. The menu is simple (chocolate, cheese, meat, and seafood), and you can order a la carte, or do a “premier dinner” with three courses. The fondue is fine (the cheese is the best), but what makes Geja’s interesting is the atmosphere. The space is maze-like and incredibly dark (the servers carry flashlights to help you see the menu), and you get the feeling that it hasn’t changed in 50 years. In other words, come here for a throwback date night, or if you’re thinking of buying a fondue pot for the house.
